TERRY RUTLEDGE

Terry came to know Jesus through Young Life, committing his life to Jesus at an Easter retreat at Mount Hermon in 1971. Knowing Jesus and enjoying the indwelling Holy Spirit has lead him to a full life in the Body. He has discovered that his strongest spiritual gifts are in knowledge, teaching and wisdom. Terry truly enjoys the opportunity to teach adult Sunday school as this provides spiritual growth and allows him to be centered in the Word. His gifts of knowledge and wisdom have always been used in ministry and church leadership. He has used these gifts as a deacon and elder in two previous churches in Sacramento and San Jose.

Terry met his wife, Nina, in high school in 1971 and they became high school sweethearts. After college, they married in June of 1975 and came to San Jose in June of 1996. They have 3 wonderful adult boys and two beautiful daughter-in-laws and have been blessed with 3 grandchildren with two more on the way!

In his professional career he spent a few years pursuing high school teaching and owned a landscape business. However, at age 29, Terry went back to school and earned his master degree. This moved him into a career in healthcare. For the last 25 years his work has been in hospitals providing leadership and direction in business development and strategic planning.

In the fall of 2006, he joined other Calvary Church members on a GO team to Pascagoula, Mississippi to help the victims of Katrina through ministering to their hearts and rebuilding their homes. Nina and Terry committed to ministry with the Calvary Church body full time in the fall of 2007. Terry has always worked in the area of Men’s ministry and served in a leadership capacity as a lay member. He started to serve with Mark Lauer in Men’s ministry and eventually he became a co-lead of the Men’s ministry. He also enjoys greeting people so can be seen once a month out near the parking lot having fun and shaking hands. Serving the Lord has always provided him a sense of peace and joy. Terry looks forward to serving Calvary and the Lord Jesus Christ.
