The Calvary Basketball League (CBL) offers five divisions. For all ages, the focus of the CBL is introduce kids to the fundamentals of basketball, provide the opportunity to play no matter what skill level, grow in individual skills as well as team play, and to enjoy competing in a relaxed and teaching environment, without excessive pressure or competition. We ask all coaches, parents, and players to abide by our rules to ensure the game is enjoyable for all.
Ages 4-5 (co-ed)
Score is not kept for these games. All players will wear colored wristbands and each player must guard the player from the opposite team that wears the same colored wristband (man-to-man defense only). Players cannot play defense until the offense crosses half court.
Practices are on Saturdays before the games. There will be a 20 minute practice, and then the teams will play two 15 minute quarters (the full practice and game will take approximately one hour). We do not keep score but we do have referees who are trained to explain their calls to the children so that they can learn the fundamentals of the game.
Games are played on a mini-court (roughly half the size of a full-court), with baskets at the height of 6.5’ for the first 3 weeks, 7.5’ the second 3 weeks, and 8’ feet for the last 3 games of the season. The ball is 28.5 inches in circumference.
Ages 6-7 (co-ed)

All players will wear colored wristbands and each player must guard the player from the opposite team that wears the same colored wristband (man-to-man defense only). Players cannot play defense until the offense crosses half court.
A 60 minute developmental practice is held during the week. The date and time are dependent on the coach, but it will remain the same for every week.
On game day, teams will play two 16 minute quarters with running clocks (the full game will take approximately one hour). We have referees trained to explain their calls to the children so that they can learn the fundamentals of the game.
Games are played on a full court, with baskets at the height of 9' for the first 6 weeks, and then 10’ feet for the last 3 games of the season. The ball is 28.5 inches in circumference.
Ages 10-11 & 12-13
Teams are formed to maintain a competitive balance. Score is kept for these games, but is reset every quarter ONLY if a team is ahead by 15 points. Full court and man-to-man defense is allowed. Zone defense is only allowed in the last 4 minutes of the game.
A 60 minute developmental practice is held during the week. On game day, teams will play two 18 minute quarters with running clocks (the full game will take approximately one hour). With the last 2 minutes, play stops on ALL dead balls out of bounds. We have referees trained to explain their calls to the children so that they can learn the fundamentals of the game.
Games are played on a full court, with baskets at the height of 10’ feet for the season. The ball is 28.5 inches in circumference for the girls and 29.5 inches for the boys.
Divisions:
