CALVARY REACHES OUT THROUGH GARDEN OF HOPE
By: Matt Turner, Pastor of Community Relations
This last Saturday Calvary joined together with members from the community to clean up and prepare our Garden Of Hope for the Spring season. More than twenty people from Calvary, the Community and the Gardeners came together to pull weeds, prepare soil and harvest winter crops. It was a great time for everyone to come and work along side each other.
The Garden of Hope is located on Calvary's Campus behind the House of Hope. It is the only community garden on private land in Santa Clara County. We invite anyone from the community to join us and farm a plot of their choosing for a year. The plots are 10' by 10' and 10' by 20'. There is a nominal fee for water and soil preparations. We also ask the gardeners to donate 10% of their crops back to the House of Hope. The families who visit the house weekly are always anxious to see what the fresh crop is for the week.
If you are interested in helping in the Garden of Hope or if you would like to see about working a plot, please contact Matt Turner for more information at mturner@calvarylg.com.
