REMEMBERING A CALVARY LEGACY
By Lamar Allen,
Pastor of Caring Ministries
Few people can claim they attended Calvary's very first church service, but Bill and Leone Cundall were one of the few. They even led worship. Within weeks of that first service, Bill asked Leone to marry him and the couple began to serve in music together at Calvary and in many churches in northern California.
Bill loved to sing or play the horn while Leone accompanied him on the piano. For them, music was worship, but it was also fun. Bill enjoyed hanging onto a note a little longer than anticipated to liven up "The King is Coming" or turning his head away from Leone during "My Didn't It Rain" as she tried to figure out what he was going to do next. As the church grew, the couple continued to be involved in the orchestra ministry.
Although music was an important part of their lives, people were more important. Bill and Leone consistently prayed for many of our global staff and supported those they could financially. They often helped by sending out prayer letters and other special projects. They often sent cards to many of their fellow church members and asked frequently about their children and grandchildren.
Bill and Leone served with their family at Calvary for many years until health issued made it impossible. Two years ago, Leone passed away. Monday morning, November 9th, Bill joined her in the heavenly chorus. Their children carry on their legacy here at Calvary Church. James plays in the orchestra, and Melody sings in the choir. Her husband Kyle also helps with the video portion of the Traditional Worship Service at 9:00am.
A memorial service for Bill Cundall is planned for Saturday, November 14 at 3:00pm in the Large Chapel. A reception will immediately follow in Parkside 3&4. All are welcome to attend.
