First Appointment MenWHAT IS YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT?
Rick Hinz, Staff Writer

When does your day begin? With your first appointment. The men’s ministry at Calvary is alive on Tuesday mornings at 6:30 a.m. Why 6:30? The idea is for men who normally go to the gym at this time to give up one day a week and don’t go to the gym. They make this their “First Appointment” of the day.

“Men don’t often find a chance to be together,” says Terry Rutledge, “It’s an opportunity for them to relax and enjoy the company of other men, willing to share the difficulties and joys in life. It helps to define your life as a man away from work.”

Terry has been involved in men’s ministries for the past 15 years. He feels it is important for each man to discover his role in Christ, his position as a leader, and how to take leadership of his family.

The men of First Appointment will soon be finishing the book “Risk: Are You Willing to Trust God with Everything?” by Kenny Luck and starting a new book, “A Heart Like Jesus,” by Max Lucado.

“Sometimes men can’t share things except with other men,” Terry says. “When you can relate that to your Christian life, it helps you become a better Christian.”

Doors open in Parkside 1 and 2 at 6:20 a.m. for a continental breakfast. Each appointment includes a 15 to 20 minutes of discussion and prayer. Men of all ages are welcome.

Calvary Home Groups

GET CONNECTED WITH A HOME GROUP THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Home groups often get together during the holidays to celebrate in various ways. This is a great opportunity for newcomers to connect with the groups and get to know members of our Calvary family.

Home groups meet during the week to study the Bible, build friendships and help others in need. By keeping groups small (usually between 6 and 12 individuals), these groups put a face on the Calvary Church family and come in all sizes and purposes.

If you are not already involved in a home group, we invite you to check one out this week in the Worship Center or on our website.

MEET ANDREW FORD
TRADITIONAL MUSIC &
CHOIR DIRECTOR

Andrew FordHow can people connect in music through our Traditional Worship Service?

We have so many opportunities for people who love music and want to join us in the choir and orchestra on a regular basis or for special church-wide services like Christmas Eve, Easter and 2X services. We even have non-musical opportunities for those who would like to be involved in other ways. .

It is magical when people of muliple generations come together for a single purpose. When voices become one voice, you hear sounds as they were meant to be heard. And when we really connect with the congregation, it's a spiritual connection that brings us into corporate worship together.
