Cambodia
October 30 - November 14, 2009

Ages: Teenagers and Adults

In the late 1970s one of the worst genocides in history took place in Southeast Asia. Prime Minister and dictator Pol Pot was leader of the Khmer Rouge (Cambodia's Communist party) and forced hundreds of thousands of people into labor camps. An estimated 1.5 million people lost their lives from malnutrition, disease and torture.

Years later, this country is still rebuilding from its tragic past. But many would agree that a new day has arrived in Cambodia. There is optimism about opportunities for the future. The many youth bring vitality and ideas to the Khmer culture. And many people are turning to the hope found in Jesus Christ. New churches are being started everywhere!

Cambodia GO Team:

This fall (Oct 30-Nov 14) we will be sending a team to meet and work alongside the wonderful people of Cambodia.

Participate in the construction of a new church building in a rural Cambodian village (no construction skills necessary).
Help lead a fun and engaging kid's program for dozens of youth in the village.
At the end of the trip, the team will also travel to Siem Reap to visit the ancient temples of Angkor Wat, one of the original wonders of the ancient world.

Information Meeting:

Sunday, March 22 at 12pm
(Parkside 3-4)
