July 2026 Update

While you may not see much changing on campus yet, there's been significant progress behind the scenes as we continue moving toward construction.
In June, we officially submitted the site plans to the Town of Los Gatos, marking the beginning of the formal Architecture & Site Review process. In early July, we received our first technical review.
A technical review is essentially the Town's way of confirming they have everything they need before beginning a full evaluation of the project. Rather than deciding whether to approve the design itself, they review the plans, engineering documents, studies, and supporting materials to ensure the application is complete and coordinated.
We're encouraged by the feedback we've received. The Town responded positively to the overall direction of the project and requested additional detail in a few technical areas; things like stormwater drainage, lighting plans, and other engineering specifications. Our architects and engineers are quickly addressing those comments and preparing the next submission.
Once those updates are submitted, the project will go through another technical review. If the Town determines the application is complete, it will move into the formal Architecture & Site Review process, where the holistic project is evaluated by the appropriate Town departments. Following those approvals, we'll be able to move into building permits and begin construction as funding allows.
At the same time, our teams continue working closely with our architects to finalize the interior design and programming of the Chapel and Family Life Center. That work is nearing completion and will soon transition into Construction Documents; the detailed blueprints used to obtain building permits. Unlike the Architecture & Site Review, this permitting process focuses primarily on code compliance and construction details.
Financially, we're in a healthy position to continue through design, engineering, and the Town review process. The initiation and pace of construction, however, will ultimately depend on having the necessary funding in place.
We're also continuing to prepare for the future sale of the back parking lot, which we anticipate will be a significant source of construction funding. Even with that sale, there will still be a funding gap to close.

Together, we're not simply renovating buildings, we're creating spaces that will serve our church, our community, and the ministry of Calvary for decades to come.

You may be wondering, "When will we actually start to see things happening on campus?" The honest answer is: we don't know yet. And, we, like you, very much look forward to the day we can break ground.
What we do know is that we're moving as quickly and responsibly as we can. Every week, staff, volunteers, elders, architects, engineers, and consultants are investing significant time refining the plans, responding to Town feedback, and preparing the project for the next step.
Right now, so much of the timeline is determined by the Town's review process, and that moves at its own pace. While we can't control that timeline, we can control our preparation, and we’re moving as much forward, as far as we can, every week, to ensure we're ready to execute as soon as approvals and funding are in place.
