God & Sex

There is not a more contested space in our cultural moment than in the topic of human sexuality. Our culture seems lost in the malaise of sexual longing and identity. The truth is, our sexuality is deeply connected to our spirituality. We invite you to join us as our friend Dave Lomas teaches about the wisdom needed to approach our sexuality and how culture is shaping sex for the future.

God & Sex | Feb 12, 2023

We are so grateful to Pastor Dave Lomas and the incredible teachings he's brought to our church during his pastoral residency. Today Pastor Dave spoke to us about identity. Identity matters because all of us live from some core truth. For most of us, our identity is typically anchored in one of three things: what we do, what we have, and what we desire. Our culture tells us our identity is whom we desire sexually. The problem is, all of these fall short. None of these areas are the core truth Jesus wants us to live from. The truest thing about us, as we see in Colossians 3, is that we are in Christ. We are loved by God. Accepted by God. Put in right relationship with God through Jesus, not because of anything we have done but because of the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf. That is who we are. We belong to God. Our call is to become who we are and to live out that truth.

The quick summary above doesn't come close to covering the depth, the truth, and the power in Pastor Dave's teaching today. We encourage you, if you missed any of Dave's teachings or the lecture, to make time and watch them. We also invite you to sign up for the Grace and Truth class that begins this Wednesday, February 15. You can sign up here.

God & Sex - Midweek Lecture | Feb 8, 2023

We encourage you dive deeper into the subject of sexual longing and identity by watching this midweek lecture by Dave Lomas attended by members of local church communities as well as Calvary Church.

God & Sex | Feb 5, 2023

This morning, Pastor Dave Lomas from Realty SF joined us for the first Sunday of his pastoral residency. Pastor Dave began his teaching with 1 Corinthians 6:12-20. He began there not only because Corinth was a lot like our area, but also because what Paul heard from the congregation was a lot like the cultural understanding of our bodies and their purpose today. We encourage you to make time to watch this important teaching and to sign up for the lecture this Wednesday.
