As we continue to grow into a Mobilized Church, membership is an important way to commit to the mission God has given Calvary. It’s a way of saying, “I’m in” to the work God is doing through our church family. If you’d like to learn more about what membership means and why it matters, you can watch Pastor Dale’s video below.
Step 1. Biblical Literacy
It’s essential for those who choose to step into the commitment of membership do so with a Biblical foundation. With that in mind, a pre-requisite for membership is to complete the Biblical Literacy course put together by the Calvary Community. In this course Pastor Dale walks through some fundamental principles for how to read and interpret Scripture and discover more of what the Bible is about, how to approach it with consistent integrity, and develop a life that is shaped and empowered by the amazing story of God. Step 2. Membership Course
This video course is similar to Biblical Literacy in that it’s online and self-paced. In it, we explore why church membership matters, the role of covenants, what Scripture teaches about membership, and a vision for healthy, holistic commitment to the local church. The course also walks through Calvary’s Statement of Faith, the implications for daily life, expectations for members, and the benefits of being a member. After completing the Biblical Literacy course, you’ll be able to request access to begin the Membership Course.
Step 3. Testimony
One of the qualifications for membership at Calvary Church, as outlined in our constitution, is sharing a brief verbal testimony with church leadership. As you’ll see in the Membership Course, one of the core foundations of the church Jesus established is community. It’s togetherness. It’s being known. It is growing in unity. Sharing our stories helps us live that out. Therefore, we invite you to share how you came to faith or how your relationship with the Lord is growing today. Step 4. Celebration Covenant
Calvary Church hosts regular Member Gatherings. These gatherings provide an opportunity to welcome new members, hear their verbal commitment to enter the covenant of the church, and pray over them as a church family. They are intended to be significant and joyous occasions, serving as the final step in the membership process.
